The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA), supports capable, accountable and self‑directed community governments providing a safe, sustainable and healthy environment for community residents.

Job Information

The Learning and Development Advisor plays a pivotal role in strengthening the capacity of community government and designated authorities by identifying workforce learning needs and delivering targeted development solutions. This includes assessing and addressing skill gaps that impact performance, leading new council orientation workshops, and supporting ongoing training for both staff and council members. The Advisor also research, plans, and implements comprehensive learning initiatives that build effective, responsible, and sustainable community governments, while championing awareness and uptake of learning services across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement learning plans with individual learners.
  • Provides expert advice and technical support to clients on workplace learning and development (including e-learning) practices.
  • Coordinate and host regional learning events and opportunities.
  • Gathers regional data, analyzes information, and provides recommendations on future learning initiatives.
  • Seeks partnerships with other government departments to support community government learning and development

Key Qualifications:

  • A degree in but not limited to education combined with 2 years of relevant experience.
