Lycopodium is currently recruiting for an Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Engineering team in Mississauga, ON

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering the Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of accurate, professional and compliant design deliverables using Company approved systems and procedures.

The tasks you'll perform
  • Conduct timely reviews of Project mechanical drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize where necessary to achieve agreed deliverables to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Perform accurate engineering design and calculations
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
  • Identify scope variations and prepare relevant documentation accordingly.
  • Liaise with and provide professional support to drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
  • Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
  • Produce accurate engineering lists including but not limited to: equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipe line and special work.
  • Provide accurate material take-offs as and when required.
  • Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations for the purchase of mechanical equipment from vendors where necessary.
  • Review vendor certified documentation and disseminate the information to the appropriate personnel for interface checking.
  • Assist with the delivery of engineering documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost and schedule.
  • Register and file all relevant engineering documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest developments to Industry and Project specific codes, standards and related engineering matters.
  • Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design criteria and deliverables.
  • Contribute to engineers in trainings professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
  • Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.
The expertise you'll bring
  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 8+ years post graduate experience in Mineral Processing or Metallurgical plant design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
