Duties

Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor, the Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Worker assists the Landscaping and Grounds Technicians by performing a variety of landscaping and grounds beautification tasks. The role also assists with maintenance of hard surfaces such as walkways, roadways, parking lots and pavers.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Several years’ experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping
  • Experience operating maintenance equipment such as mowing units, tractors, loaders, etc.
  • Experience operating snow clearing equipment such as plows, loaders and snow hauling trucks
  • Ability to self-initiate a task, work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Good knowledge of safe work procedures as defined in the applicable workplace safety regulations
  • Physical ability to perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Experience contributing to a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
  • Manitoba Pesticide License with Core and Landscape / Golf Course
  • Completion of Manitoba Provincial Arborist Exam
  • Experience performing minor repairs to grounds maintenance equipment
  • Post-secondary certificate in Greenspace Management or related field
Conditions of Employment
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and / or weekends
  • This position may be required to work overtime
  • This position is subject to audiometric assessments
  • Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
