As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Successful demonstration of laboratory skills and data entry is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. Must be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone, or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. Able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
Experience using gel card TM testing technology, Sysmex hematology analyzers and Caresphere, Cellavision, ACL Top, BioRad Unity, and Epic Beaker & WellSky LIS. TM testing including type & screen, antibody investigations, red cell typing, perinatal testing, selection & dispensing of blood products. Bone marrow collection, sample processing & differential, CSF/body fluid, semen analysis & malaria investigation.
