Qualifications

  • Exposure to infrastructure or large capital projects is an asset.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Project Controls and Earned Value Management (EVM).

What is the project?

The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system. This will involve:

  • A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
  • Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
  • An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.

The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.

What you will do:

The Junior Project Control Coordinator will assist in the implementation of the reporting and change control activities during the Definition Phase and perform the necessary adjustments for the Execution Phase of the Project.

Concretely, your tasks will be:
  • Prepare and submit periodic (weekly and monthly) reports (client and internal etc.), all along project lifecycle
  • Develop and evolve reporting templates and tools
  • Define rituals (timeline, participants, and validations)
  • Perform quality verification prior to issuance
  • Coordinate with client and internal departments for evolving needs and ensure incorporation of comments in subsequent reports
  • Ensuring compliance with project reporting requirements (contractual and internal needs)
  • Verify the inclusion of subcontract reporting requirements
  • Develop and implement KPI tracking tools
  • Perform progress calculations and various Performance KPIs
  • Coordinate scope and change control management processes
  • Keep project progress indicators up-to-date and functional
  • Identify and develop additional project performance indicators on specific topics or project aspects when required
  • Communicate and interface with all project departments to ensure respect for reporting rituals
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly project management progress meetings
  • Ensure proper communication of all potential or identified issues which may impact the project
  • Maintain and update master reporting datasets, including baseline, previous, and current snapshots
  • Ensure proper version control and traceability of reporting datasets and files
  • Maintain the WBS and scope management
  • Maintain a log of reporting submissions, revisions, approvals, and issue resolutions for audit and reference purposes
  • Tasks will evolve to support project control needs and requirements of the projects which are not covered by the Risk Management, Scheduling and Cost Control teams
  • 1–3 years of experience in project controls, planning, reporting, or data analysis
  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management preferred
  • Exposure to infrastructure or large capital projects is an asset
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Project Controls and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel
  • Familiarity with Power BI is an asset
  • Strong attention to numerical accuracy, details and data structure
  • Ability to follow established processes and templates precisely
  • Proactive in identifying data gaps and raising issues early
  • Strong organizational, time and data management skills
