Junior / Intermediate Noise and Vibration Engineer

Role description: We are seeking a Noise and Vibration Engineer with varying levels of experience to join our team. This role focuses on environmental noise and vibration; experience in architectural acoustics is an asset. You will work as part of a small, collaborative team delivering noise and vibration services across projects including railways, roadways, industry, and land development.

Responsibilities
  • Producing high quality, thoughtful analysis using commercially available software packages and in-house tools.
  • Conducting field measurements of noise and vibration at industrial, residential, institutional, and construction sites.
  • Collaborating with project managers from scoping through all stages of project execution, with opportunities to move into technical project management roles.
  • Communicating project results and proposed solutions to internal and external clients.
  • Managing a schedule of multiple active projects to balance priorities and meet deliverables.
Key Skills

While specific technical skills and experience are required, strong interpersonal, communication and written skills are essential. Candidates should have:

  • Knowledge of environmental noise and vibration concepts, such as:
    • Predictive railway noise and vibration models (e.g., FTA, STEAM).
    • Predictive roadway noise models (e.g., TNM, ORNAMENT).
    • Basic sound and vibration propagation algorithms.
    • Modeling software (e.g., Cadna/A).
    • Experience with sound level and vibration measurements – both source and receptor.
  • Experience working with clients to develop project solutions.
  • Programming skills are not required but are an asset.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of consulting experience in environmental noise and vibration.
  • Eligible for P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) following completion of years of experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
