ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Junior GIS Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Support ongoing GIS projects and initiatives such as updating base layers with current data, including but not limited to layer editing, layer creation, large dataset manipulation and creation.
- Manage various data inputs from multiple sources for large projects
- Data entry and maintenance of project systems
- Collaborate and create Python scripts for automation tasks.
- Collaborate with other GIS individuals to ensure consistent and high-quality GIS services are maintained.
- Maintain, update and create new standards or procedures for GIS under the direction of the supervisor to support the generation of maps and drawings and the efficient management of asset information.
- Participate in the project meetings as directed by the Supervisor and contribute to the continuing development and maintenance of the company GIS system.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and team safety by closely following company safety policies, standards, and procedures
- Assist with other responsibilities as needed to contribute to the overall success of the team
What We’re Looking for On Your Resume:
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- ESRI software suite including ArcGIS is required.
- Experience with Python or FME is an asset
- Experience in Alberta and BC data, regulations, and land systems is an asset
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
