Job summary

Position Summary

Position: Journeyman Electrical Foreman

Type: Fulltime

Location: IOL Kearl FM

Schedule: 14 on/14 off (Averaging Agreement – Compressed Work Schedule)

Flight Hubs: Edmonton or Calgary

Role Summary

A Journeyman Electrical Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. They interpret blueprints and technical diagrams, install wiring and lighting systems, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Their role involves leading a team, managing schedules, and coordinating with other trades to ensure project success. They also handle emergency breakdowns and maintain accurate project documentation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coach and mentor the electrical team on safe work practices, quality workmanship, Canadian electrical codes, company and site‑specific standards and productivity.
  • Give daily guidance to electrical journeymen and apprentices.
  • Provide the crew with adequate supervision and daily work instructions.
  • Coordinate the daily manpower movement within the team to manage workload and scheduled work.
  • Prepare the equipment and materials needed for the daily work.
  • Monitor safety, performance, progress, and productivity and ensure the alignment of the work executed matches the standards, plans and drawings.
  • Promote company’s guiding principles.
  • Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew and safety performance to the Superintendent.
  • Ensure to comply with all roles and responsibilities.
  • Approve, submit daily timesheets and ensure daily progress reports are submitted.
  • Hold daily safety meetings/toolbox meetings.
  • Report all incidents to the appropriate personnel. Knowing when and who to report it to.
  • Ensure that all elements of the company HSE program are carried out, implemented and recorded as stipulated.
  • Present a positive working safety culture for all workers and lead by example.
  • Provide estimates, material requisitions and detailed scope of work for all upcoming work and “as built” drawings when required.
  • Under this contract, the electrical foreman is also providing supervision to one overhead door technician. (overhead doors general knowledge would be an asset)
Education & Experience
  • Journeyman Electrician Trade Certification (Red Seal)
  • Thorough in‑depth understanding of CEC (Canadian Electrical Code)
  • Minimum of five years related experience
  • Previous oil and construction industry experience preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation – Energy Safety Canada)
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate trade performance is essential.
  • Good written and oral communication skills. All applicants must have ability to read, speak and write fluently in English.
