Overview

The Department of Critical Care at Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) is seeking a skilled and well-rounded intensivist with base specialty training in either Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Anesthesiology to join our group. Successful applicant would work approximately 18 weeks of ICU annually as well as coverage of base specialty when not in ICU. Opportunities exist for academic appointments, and to engage in a variety of leadership projects and quality improvementendeavors.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Our level-2 intensive care is staffed by two daytime intensivists with shared night call. We are an academic site affiliated with Dalhousie University and have regular medical students, residents, as well as ICU and GIM fellows. The ICU handles all critically ill patients in the catchment area and is well supported with equipment for point of care ultrasound, percutaneous tracheostomy, transesophageal echocardiography, and bronchoscopy. Responsibilities are divided between both daytime staff and include coverage of ICU as well as the Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU), consultations, and code blue coverage in daytime hours.
