Position Type: Casual

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour, based on experience and level of post‑secondary education.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson (Red Seal) in Plumbing
  • A working knowledge of MS Office
  • Valid WHMIS and Basic First Aid training are preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post‑secondary environment.

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Business Development Operations Manager, School of Professional and Part‑time Learning. As a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; delivering individualized instruction and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse academic needs; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses may include, but may not be limited to:
  • Plumbing History, Code and Principles
  • Tools of the Plumbing Trade
  • Basic Math for Plumbing
  • Water Supply, Water Sources, Waste Disposal, and Sewage Disposal
  • Mechanical Properties and Protection of Building Materials and Structures
  • Piping Materials Used in Plumbing Work
  • Joining Methods for DVW and Pressure Piping
  • Plumbing Fixtures
  • Various sprinkler systems

The successful incumbent must also be well versed in the use and interpretation of the National Plumbing Code of Canada as it relates to the above areas as well as be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.
