An educational institution in Toronto is seeking an Instructor for the Food Supply Chain Track & Trace. Instructor- Food Supply Chain Track & Trace

What’s on Your Horizon

Delivery Mode: In person

Instructional Hours: 6 total (delivered in one day)

Schedule: Saturday, March 28 — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Teach the foundations of food supply chain traceability, including sustainability, transparency, and risk management.
  • Introduce GS1 standards and product identification systems (GTIN, SSCC, barcodes, RFID).
  • Explain key regulations such as SFCR and guide learners through CFIA/CBSA requirements.
  • Demonstrate how to use the AIRS database to identify import requirements and documentation.
  • Show how traceability supports fraud prevention, recall readiness, and identifying Critical Tracking Events (CTEs).
  • Break down essential data concepts including Master vs Transactional Data, KDEs, and basic EDIFACT structure.
  • Lead hands on activities such as the AIRS Hunt and group discussions focused on identifying gaps and building solutions.
What You Bring to Seneca
  • Experience with supply chain data modeling, including EDIFACT, KDEs, and traceability data structures.
  • Strong applied understanding of food regulatory compliance, including SFCR, CFIA requirements, and confident AIRS database navigation.
  • Deep knowledge of GS1 Global Standards, including GTIN, SSCC, and data carrier systems.
  • Professional experience in Food & Beverage logistics, supply chain management, regulatory affairs, import/export operations, or food safety and quality assurance.
  • Clear, engaging communication skills with proven success delivering training to adult learners.
