Job summary

An independent energy company located in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a full-time Inspector responsible for monitoring fixed pressure equipment and piping systems. The role involves compliance with industry standards, record management, and coordination of testing programs. Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years of inspection experience, preferably in a petrochemical environment, along with a technical background in materials or welding technology. Strong decision-making and communication skills are essential for this safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

  • 2 – 5 years of inspection experience in a related role.
  • Experience in a Petrochemical/Refinery is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with industry codes relative to the fixed pressure equipment.
  • Create and manage record systems for vessels and tanks.
  • Manage and coordinate non-destructive testing programs.
  • Communicate daily issues related to static equipment with Maintenance.
  • Participate in failure analysis and root cause analysis.

Skills

Knowledgeable on the application of Risk Based Inspection (RBI)
Working knowledge of API 653, API 510, API 570
Knowledge of root cause failure analysis
Excellent decision making skills
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Education

Job description

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair company, located in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a full-time Inspector. Reporting to the Coordinator Inspection, the Inspector is responsible for building, compiling and executing systems to monitor and track the fixed pressure equipment and piping records in Phoenix process area.

Job Duties
  • Ensure compliance with industry, company and local jurisdiction codes relative to the fixed pressure equipment
  • Responsible for creating and managing record systems for vessels, tanks, piping and Pressure Safety Valves
  • Manage and co-ordinate non-destructive testing programs (NDT) and core inspection programs
  • Communicate and address daily issues related to static equipment or piping with Maintenance and Operations
  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause analysis, hazops and materials selection processes
  • Direct contract inspection resources
  • Assist maintenance processes with shutdown planning and inspection support via SAP
  • Provides technical direction in an Area Team environment for fixed equipment in assigned unit areas of responsibility

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience
  • 2 – 5 years of inspection experience in a related role
  • Experience in a Petrochemical/Refinery is preferred
Education Level
  • A technical graduate of a materials related discipline (Materials or Welding technology)
  • Certified or ability to obtain API 510/570/653 certification is preferred
Required Skills
  • Knowledgeable on the application of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and Asset Integrity Strategies
  • Working knowledge of API 653, API 510, API 570 as well as 579, 580, 581. Certification of API 510 or API 570 is an asset.
  • Knowledge of root cause failure analysis, Non Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, welding processes and basic metallurgy
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic SAP proficiency
  • Ability to foster team participation
  • Self-starter
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to build construction relationships with our customers, government agencies, contractors and manufacturers
