A health service provider is looking for an Infection Control Practitioner to lead infection prevention initiatives at their Red Deer location. You will drive system-wide improvements, promote safety, and work in collaboration with public health standards. This temporary full-time role offers a competitive salary and hybrid work options, requiring a relevant degree and clinical experience. Strong knowledge in microbiology and epidemiology is preferred.
Your Opportunity:
The AHS Infection Prevention and Control program is seeking an Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) to join our team. This is a 1 (one) year temporary position(s). You will work with the Central Zone IPC team and connect provincially to be a leader in reviewing best practice, advising in IPC measures and supporting program leaders and staff in IPC practices focused on patient safety and infection prevention. This position will serve Red Deer in virtual and on-site support. Therefore, some travel to sites is a requirement of the position. New employees on the IPC program will be required to work all working days at their assigned location on-site, for the first 6 months. Duration is determined by management. As an Infection Prevention and Control Professional (ICP), you will be a patient safety expert who leads the planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of system wide improvements in infection prevention and serves as a role model to promote the goals of the IPC program within the larger context of the vision and mission of AHS. You will facilitate change through interpretation and application of standards, and provide best practice recommendations across the spectrum of the organization with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and preventing health-care associated infections (HAI).
