Job description
Overview

Industrial Electrician, Nairn Centre, Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to join our team as an Industrial Electrician in Nairn Centre. The current rate for this position is $41.19 per hour, based on either a 4x12-hour weekly schedule or a 3x12-hour weekend schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Perform daily checks (continuity, current, voltage and resistance) and diagnostics on equipment.
  • Repair, install and test the equipment. (Transformers, regulators, motors, generators, electrical control system).
  • Design control panels and install circuit power distribution.
  • Interpret the requirements of the Canadian electrical code and ensure Z462 compliance.
  • Responding to emergencies during breakdown.
  • PLC troubleshooting / programming.
  • VFD troubleshooting / programming.
What You Offer
  • Have a Journeyman electrician's 442A or 309A (RedSeal) electrical license.
  • At least two years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a timber complex.
  • Sawmill and/or planer experience will be considered an asset.
  • Strong safety background.
  • Be available to work on shifts day, evening, night, and weekends.
  • Good technical, problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties safely and efficiently.
  • Must be capable of reading & understanding electrical drawings.
  • Perform safely and timely emergency repairs to equipment.
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.
  • Must have skills to help train new employees, apprentices, etc.
