Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of enterprise server, storage, and backup systems for On-premise Data Centre environments
  • Assist in data centre, server, and network related projects to support all lines of business
  • Proactively monitor system performance and utilization and implement performance tuning and capacity management
  • Ensure that the environment is always up to date (implementing patches, service packs, etc.)
  • Respond to alerts and escalations to troubleshoot and correct server & storage issues
  • Manage data center inventories related to systems, space and requests for moves, additions and changes of hardware
  • Document procedures, logical & physical configuration, and perform knowledge transfer to peers and stakeholders
  • Document problems and resolution for future reference
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships, to ensure currency, awareness of new/underused features, and effective procurement
  • Provide input to IT and Product roadmaps, leveraging current and future technologies and features, in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Identify and implement improvements to operations, systems performance, and BCP/DR plans, through more efficient use of existing, and the introduction of new, technologies/tools/processes
  • This position requires on-call/standby for a 24/7 operation.
Qualifications
  • A degree or diploma in IT, computer science or related discipline
  • 5+ years of IT Systems and Storage experience, ideally in a multi-Data Centre environment
  • Must have expert-level knowledge with Microsoft HyperV, and experience with additional primary technologies: Pure Storage, and Cohesity backup solutions.
  • Knowledge or experience in any of the following is considered an asset:
    • VMware ESXi and related products/technologies
    • Oracle KVM hypervisor
    • Brocade, or similar SAN technologies
    • Enterprise backup solutions
    • Microsoft Windows and Linux server Operating Systems
    • Scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell
    • Disaster Recovery Plan creation, implementation, and testing
    • Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure, and hybrid cloud implementations
    • Networking technologies and systems
  • Efficient and accurate troubleshooting and remediation skills
  • Effective and proactive collaboration with development teams and other colleagues/stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and leadership skills
Location

This is a remote position, open to applicants authorized to work in Canada. This position requires the employee to go to the Data centre in Brampton and Cambridge twice a month or as needed.

Salary Range

$90,000 to $100,000 CAD. Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills as well as the years of experience you have. Similar positions located in different geographic regions will not necessarily receive the same compensation.
