A leading HVAC company in Toronto is seeking an HVAC/R Service Project Manager responsible for managing projects, pricing, and client relationships. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience, a degree in mechanical engineering, and a valid G2 gas license. This role involves liaising with clients and ensuring projects meet all safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking a HVAC/R Service Project Manager based out our Markham office to be responsible for responding to client requests for mechanical project retrofits and installations. Duties required when responding to client requests includes qualifying, pricing/negotiating, and managing projects from start to finish, including final close outs and invoicing support. Typical job tasks include:

  • Identify equipment which is at end of life-cycle and provide replacement options with pricing
  • Prepare quotations for small projects
  • Client relationship and account management
  • Identify and develop opportunities based on customer’s needs. Help customers develop appropriate solutions to meet capital budgets.
  • Embrace the use of B&M CRM tools to log and track activity
  • Estimate budget price quotations for capital replacement
  • Consult and communicate with engineers, architects, vendors, subcontractors and owners
  • Work with other trade supervisors in a collaborative manner to provide clients with turn-key solutions
  • Supervise workers on all related projects and ensure H&S, regulatory and best practices are followed
  • Track actual costs against the estimate and identify possible improvements to processes
  • Schedule and conduct planning meetings with the team throughout all phases of the project life cycle
  • Ensure all required permits and licenses, B&M safety documentation and regulatory requirements are obtained and posted
  • Develop, submit and obtain approval of billing schedules with client. Assist in accurate preparation and submission of invoices on time. Assist with collection of all payments, progress billing and holdback receivables on or before due dates
  • Price, negotiate, and track all change conditions and change work orders.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, contracts, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations (i.e. Natural Gas and Refrigeration Codes).
  • Customer focused mindset with ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • University or college degree in mechanical engineering, construction engineering technology, construction project management or equivalent
  • 313A or equivalent trade license/designation
  • Valid G2 gas license (G1 preferred)
  • BAS background is an asset
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an HVAC Journeyperson performing service, maintenance, upgrades and installations for commercial & industrial sites
  • Client facing account management
  • Leading people in a trade environment
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong mechanical and electrical/controls ability and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and clients
  • Any related manufacturer factory training is an asset
  • Valid ‘G’ Driver’s License
  • Willing and able to travel in and around the GTA
  • Security clearance requirements
