Position Summary
The HR Recruiter directly impacts our mission and vision by attracting talent to our organization. This position will conduct full-cycle recruitment including recruitment strategy, interview coordination and managing the hiring processes resulting in quality hires. This position networks with industry contacts, association memberships, and employees to build Goodwill’s employment brand. Engages with hiring teams to schedule and facilitate interviews including providing training to hiring managers and assisting with onboarding processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
- Performs work duties within Goodwill of Central Iowa’s values of love, kindness, and respect.
- Consult with managers on recruiting strategy ensuring strong applicant flow and timely hiring.
- Review applications, conduct pre-screen calls, and interview the most qualified applicants.
- Organize and participate in GCI hiring events using best practices, building a strong employment brand in our communities.
- Conduct regular training for hiring managers regarding networking, recruiting, identifying top talent, behavioral based interviewing skills, and legal compliance.
- Recommend creative recruiting strategies to improve time to hire.
- Extend offers to candidates and conduct required background checks.
- Assist in onboarding new hires in the HRIS ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain required interview documentation.
- Accurately document candidate status changes in the Applicant Tracking System.
- Produce and provide recruiting reporting including position vacancies, candidate flow, turnover, and new hires to department leaders as needed.
- Assists in researching and compiling requested data for required internal, state and federal statistical reports, such as EEO-1 and AAP.
- Travel between all stores as needed to seek community outreach/networking opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required along with ability to multi-task
- Must be able to perform basic math
- Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work and occasional travel to career fairs within Goodwill of Central Iowa’s territory
- Possession of valid Iowa driver license, a good driving record, insurable, and able to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a dependent adult and child abuse background check
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field preferred
- Previous experience with retail recruiting preferred
- Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of stationary work at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization facilities.
