Overview

Transdev Manitoba is hiring a Human Resources Manager or HRBP to be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, overseeing all divisions including Patient Transport Services and Para Transit Services in the province.

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Vice President Operations - Manitoba, with support and direction from Vice President Human Resources Ontario & Manitoba, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resources Manager or HRBP to align business objectives with employee and management needs through close working relationships with management and all employee groups. This position will require occasional travel within Manitoba and Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the business to assess short and long-term business needs of the business units and provide strategic HR direction to meet their operational business requirements.
  • Support leaders with their management of front-line drivers and other employee groups.
  • Consult with business stakeholders on evolving human resource requirements and assist with the development and implementation of responsive, effective and value-added human resource strategies.
  • Provide input on business restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).
  • Use judgement supported by HR acumen to escalate matters as required.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and development to other HR team members.
  • Provide oversight to HR on payroll management, maintain and report on payroll trends.
Employee Relations
  • Work closely with Leaders on performance management, investigations, corrective action, training & development, labour relations strategies, employee relations matters and supporting a strong employee experience.
  • Provide advice on HR policies, procedures, and documentation; research, identify, and analyze specific employee relations concerns and make recommendations.
  • Provide expertise on HR best practices for performance management, human rights, employment standards and other labour legislation.
  • Explore innovative approaches to resolving employee issues.
  • Administer corrective action for professional development of poor performers by monitoring employee performance.
  • Facilitate communication and conflict resolution including internal employee investigations.
  • Lead and manage all HR functions within a unionized facility, ensuring alignment with collective agreements and employment legislation while fostering collaborative labour relations, managing grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights legislation, and internal policies.
  • Partner with legal counsel and external consultants as needed for labour and employment matters.
Compliance
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and any Collective Bargaining Agreements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support and consultation to teams around applicable laws, ensuring brands managed under Transdev Manitoba remain legally compliant in people practices.
Employee Experience
  • Foster relationships with key operational leaders by implementing a clear understanding of employee experience programs and initiatives.
  • Support Employee Experience initiatives under the direction of the VP Human Resources along with other projects and day-to-day support.
  • Proactively identify and address labour issues to maintain a productive and respectful workplace culture.
Requirements
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources Manager or Business Partner role, ideally in a related industry.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated success in labour relations, including grievance handling, investigations, and participation in collective bargaining.
  • CHRP or CHRL certification.
  • Clean Criminal Record Search and Drivers Abstract.
  • Strategic mindset, strong professional presence, and planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization with consultative, partnering, facilitating, and influencing/negotiating skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build trust with union leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and handling sensitive information.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications.
  • Knowledge of employment standards and related legislation, including Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code.
  • Available to travel to other facilities on a regular basis.
