Horizontal Directional Driller - Telecom Construction

Description

You are a Horizontal Directional Driller in the telecommunication industry and have experience supporting utility maintenance and construction. You will be responsible for operating drilling equipment to install underground telecommunication cable and conduits. As a Horizontal Directional Driller, you will collaborate with project managers, engineers and other team members to meet deadlines, safety, and maintain industry standards and will ensure the precise and efficient placement of infrastructure.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment to safely and accurately install underground conduits and utilities
• Perform directional drilling operations including bore planning, execution, and adjustment based on site conditions
• Install conduits for various cables, pedestals, concrete bases, flush-mount vaults, and enclosures
• Operate and interpret locating equipment to maintain accurate bore alignment and depth
• Coordinate drilling activities with crew members, including positioning or moving loads, and responding to hand or audio signals
• Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies, CVOR guidelines and always acting in a safe manner
• Complete all required daily paperwork, including production and equipment reports
• Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, and remove all debris from work sites

Qualifications:

• Must have previous directional drilling/locating experience (Vermeer series drills)
• Previous experience with Falcon F2 & F5 locating systems
• Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
• Must have and maintain a valid AZ driver’s license
• Must have and maintain a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Work Conditions:

• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
• Some travel will be required to site and/or other office locations

Compensation

• $35.98 - $44.82 per hour
• This is the applicable wage range for this position. Individuals will be assigned a base wage within this range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.
• Remote, site-based positions may be eligible for additional incentives including but not limited to travel and accommodation allowances.
