Overview

Reporting to the Foreman, the Highway Maintenance Worker Operator plays a key role in maintaining highways, ensuring the functionality and safety of roadways.

Responsibilities
  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Ensure proper signage, traffic control measures, and emergency response for weather events, accidents, and wildlife hazards
  • Maintain well-stocked maintenance facilities and complete necessary documentation, including logs, reports, and safety records
  • Safely transport hazardous materials and manage traffic in high-volume work zones and emergency situations
  • Maintain, service, and inspect company equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring proper care and security
  • Follow labour laws, company policies, safety regulations, and environmental compliance, while applying QA/QC standards for highway maintenance, road safety, and hazard assessments
  • Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project needs
Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid Class 3 or 1 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on light, medium, and heavy equipment is considered an asset
  • 50+ hours of experience of snowplow operation is preferred
  • Be able to work on call and perform on night shifts when needed

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
