Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience working in security, preferably at a shelter.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security License.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Control access to the shelter and check identification.
  • Address and de-escalate disputes or conflicts amongst individuals.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and assist in evacuations.
  • Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety and prevent incidents.
  • Document incidents and complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide a visible presence to deter negative behaviors.
  • Collaboration with shelter management to implement security protocols.
