Job description
Position Overview

Calian is currently hiring a bilingual Help Desk Technician - IT to support our customer in Kingston, ON. This on-site role involves providing technical support for end-users and infrastructure, performing diagnostics and troubleshooting, and supporting IT systems in a Windows and/or Linux environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues on PCs, servers, and switches
  • Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software systems
  • Support user account management including password resets, permissions, and access control
  • Maintain documentation related to support tasks, configurations, and procedures
  • Perform routine monitoring and maintenance of IT systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Escalate complex issues to senior technical staff when necessary
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of IT assets and ensuring up-to-date records
  • Provide basic training and support to users on company IT systems and tools
  • Participate in IT projects including deployments, upgrades, and migrations
  • Ensure compliance with IT security protocols and practices
  • Work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to resolve service requests
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Mandatory Technical Criteria (MTC)

MTC1

Must have a diploma or certification from a recognized training institution or post-secondary institution in Networking Administration, Computer Networking, or IT. Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • Microcomputer Engineering Technology Diploma
  • Network and Internet Systems Specialist Diploma
  • Network and Communications Technician Diploma
  • Computer Networking and Technical Support Diploma

MTC2

Must possess one of the following certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

MTC3

Must have demonstrated experience with configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for PCs, servers, and switches in Linux or Windows environments.

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
