MATRIX is seeking Experienced Operators for Arctic Ice Road familiar with sea ice, land and lake crossings for the construction and maintenance of a northern winter ice road project in Nunavut. This is a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off or 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational position with fully remote camp accommodations.

Key qualifications and requirements
  • Minimum: Proven Arctic ice-road experience over sea ice, land and lake crossings, including demonstrated success navigating seasonal routes and associated hazards
  • Prior heavy equipment operation experience on Arctic ice roads (role‑specific as applicable)
  • Must provide all current training certifications and sign‑offs relevant to your role (see mandatory vs. optional below)
  • Ability to work in remote northern conditions and live in remote camp environments
  • Valid operator licenses appropriate to the role (e.g., CDL or provincial equivalents for drivers; equipment‑specific certifications for operators)
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to risk management
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (including nights) and be away from home for extended periods
  • Pre‑employment clearance requirements may apply, including medical, criminal background checks, and drug & alcohol testing
Preferred licensing & certifications
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Certification or documented, proven relevant experience
  • 3–5 years of Arctic ice-road experience
  • Prior experience working in a remote camp setting
