Overview

The Plant Operator is responsible for operating powered equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, count merchandise, and move around finished palleted goods including loading/unloading trucks and flatbeds. The role prepares organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader and pushes or relocates piles to ensure segregation of materials. It supplies production with a continuous supply of material and monitors stockpiles for proper production readiness. The Plant Operator may be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties and may work on holidays and weekends from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, front end loader, or other power equipment.
• Prepare organic mixes; push or relocate piles to ensure segregation of materials; supply production with a continuous stock of material.
• Monitor stockpiles for excessive heat, turn stockpiles, and extinguish small fires; ensure correct handling of materials for production use.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report quality variances; pull and prepare product for shipment.
• Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards; move product from staging/storage areas into trailers; use RF equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions as required.
• Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion; inspect and perform minor maintenance on PIT or other equipment daily.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods; keep records to ensure tight inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories and in maintaining warehouse security.
• Carry out any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team.
• Must have at least one year experience operating a PIT or other heavy equipment.
• Must be able to do basic math functions (adding, subtracting, dividing).
• Must be able to read and write; complete pre-shift inspection forms.
• Conduct themselves in a manner that promotes safety.
