Job summary

A healthcare service provider in Owen Sound is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver meals tailored to the dietary needs of residents. The successful candidate will ensure food safety practices are upheld and support the creation of seasonal menus. Ideal candidates should have experience in large-quantity food preparation and knowledge of therapeutic diets, with a Red Seal Chef Certification being a plus. A current Vulnerable Sector Check is also required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Chef Certification is considered an asset.
• Experience in large-quantity food prep, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of provincial and federal food guides to healthy eating.
• Experience cooking for therapeutic diets, modified textures and modified fluid consistencies.
• The physical ability to handle a day spent standing in a production kitchen.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and deliver food considering residents' dietary requirements.
• Review menu documents for therapeutic diets and nutrition interventions.
• Ensure food safety practices are followed throughout food flow.
• Support the creation of holiday menus and theme day events.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and standards.
