Health & Safety Advisor

Overview

Our client for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to ensure the safe execution of high-impact and fast-paced construction activities, including precast segment fabrication, elevated guideway construction, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Support safe execution of precast fabrication, segment handling, and elevated guideway installation.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits across yard and field operations.
  • Assist with critical lift planning and execution, including crane operations and guideway launching.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, orientations, and training sessions for trades and subcontractors.
  • Monitor compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and internal safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; document findings and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with field supervisors, subcontractors, and project managers to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting systems.
  • Liaise with client safety reps and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all phases of work.
Must Have
  • 3–5 years of safety experience in preferred industries such as Transit Infrastructure & Rail Construction, Heavy civil, Pipeline, or Industrial projects
  • Union project experience with a track record on projects exceeding $500M.
  • Comfortable working at heights and around crane operations.
  • Experience conducting or supporting crane inspections.
  • NCSO or equivalent certification.
  • Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • Clear communicator with leadership presence onsite.
Nice to Have
  • Background in skilled trades or experience in civil/building construction.
  • Additional training in Fall Protection, Rescue/Confined Spaces, or Bobcat/mobile equipment operation.
  • Proficiency with Procore is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with elevated guideway work.
Work Environment

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project is a major rapid transit expansion connecting Surrey City Centre to Langley City via an elevated guideway. This multi-year infrastructure initiative includes new stations, utility relocations, and integration with existing transit systems to improve regional mobility. The work environment involves early morning operations and off-hour deliveries to maintain schedule, with a focus on high-impact and technically demanding construction activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $43.30/hr.
