A regional health authority in Manitoba is seeking a Health Promotion Coordinator to enhance health equity and promote well-being throughout the province. The Health Promotion Coordinator (HPC) works as part of the Population and Public Health team to improve the health of all people and reduce inequities between population groups by addressing determinants of health and promoting equitable health outcomes using a population health approach.
The HPC works as a member of the Population and Public Health team and with colleagues in other programs, departments, sectors and organizations to promote health and wellbeing within the province. Under the direction of the Director of Population Health Programs, the HPC will be responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, consultation education, evaluation and research of health promotion initiatives throughout the province. The HPC uses health promotion strategies to design and deliver population health improvements in areas such as injury prevention, nutrition promotion, healthy built environment, physical activity, chronic disease prevention, reproductive health, healthy sexuality and substance use prevention.
The HPC respectfully engages and collaborates with diverse communities and partners to close health gaps and improve population health. The HPC uses a population health approach that is rooted in an understanding of the broad determinants of health, health equity, community development, and harm reduction. The HPC supports evidence-informed practice and policy with their knowledge of public health sciences and skills in facilitation, problem solving, and communication.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
