Head of Engineering

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Head of Engineering and IT in our gaming company (prior gaming experience not needed). As the Head of Engineering and IT, you will oversee, manage, and develop a team of Front-end and Back-end developers, QA professionals (manual and automation) and IT specialists (overall team of 40+ and growing).

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar leadership role, overseeing IT, Developers, and QA professionals.
  • Proven experience in implementing and driving Scrum processes and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, and the ability to tailor them to fit the needs of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and pragmatic approach.
  • Experience with project C delivery management tools and software.
Main Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, strategic and tactical direction to the Engineering and IT teams
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery and IT processes and projects ensuring successful product launches
  • Manage and prioritize the team's workload, ensuring project deadlines are met and resources are optimally allocated.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate business requirements into viable, robust technical solutions.
  • Drive adoption of best practices in agile methodologies, CI / CD pipelines, code quality, and emerging technologies relevant to the industry (e.g., AI integration, real-time systems etc).
  • Direct the IT unit how to handle infrastructure, cloud services, security, and operational support, including tools for development pipelines and deployment
  • Monitor key performance metrics for engineering output, system reliability, and project delivery, making data-driven decisions to mitigate risks and optimize processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, security protocols, and industry standards in a gaming context.
  • Mentor and develop team leads and individual contributors, providing coaching on technical skills, leadership, and career / professional growth.
  • Recruit and onboard top engineering talent to scale the team as the company grows
  • Monitor relevant project risks and issues, proactively identifying and implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and clients.
  • Plan, execute, and optimize the IT and Engineering budgets required to support the business growth
  • Report directly to the COO, providing updates on projects and budgets statuses, delivery timelines, and resources allocation within the Engineering and IT teams.
