This role requires over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration or Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in French and English, with a strong background in technical processes and decision-making.   • Technical background (fluids, metallurgy – an asset).
  • Eligibility for the Controlled Goods Program.

In an international context, with high technical complexity, quality standards, and tight deadlines, Velan is recruiting a Head of Department, Global Bidding (Manufacturer) to support its growth and increasing demand. This individual will play a key role in the governance, performance, and strategic alignment of tendering activities, as well as leading a multidisciplinary team across Canada.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leading and aligning a team of professionals (bids & applications);
  • Prioritizing, assigning, and making decisions on complex projects;
  • Ensuring the quality, compliance, and timely delivery of bids;
  • Continuously optimizing processes and tools; Serving as the point of contact between engineering, sales, plants, and projects.
Performance Indicators
  • Quality and accuracy of submissions;
  • Meeting of deadlines;
  • Team empowerment, autonomy, and sound business judgment.
Desired Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, technical fields, or equivalent;
  • More than 10 years of experience, including 5 years in a similar role;
