About the position

The Head, Finance Policies, Procedures and Budgeting develops and implements policies and procedures related to finance and procurement, develops and provides ongoing training and support to Museum staff regarding finance procedures and policies, assists with development and oversight of appropriate internal controls, and assists with the compilation and maintenance of the Museum’s budget and forecast models and data integrity.

Eligibility criteria

This position is open to all Employees of the Canadian Museum of Nature and any members of the public who meet the qualifications below.

*Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Education and training:

Completion of a University degree, in a field relevant to financial management. This can be a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Accounting, a master’s in Business Administration, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

A professional accounting designation, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Language requirements:

  • English and French are essential.
  • Bilingualism imperative – Second language profile : CBC

Experience:

A minimum of 6 years’ of recent experience in:

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring financial internal controls;
  • Developing and implementing:
    • Financial policies and procedures;
    • Financial procedures, including documentation and training;
  • Developing and managing budget models and advising and guiding individuals with varying levels of financial expertise on budget development;
  • Working in highly computerized environment.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in :

  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring financial internal controls;
  • Communicating, collaborating and interacting with internal and external staff and external organizations (including auditors).
  • Public Sector Accounting Standards is an asset.
