Job description

MAINTAIR AVIATION is currently seeking qualified individuals for a part-time niche role within our Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Team. This position is ideally suited to someone who is flexible, willing to work evenings and/or weekends and is able to make day trips within New Brunswick to Fredericton and Saint John.

With over 40 years of experience in the aviation sector, Maintair Aviation is rapidly growing in New Brunswick and we welcome applicants who believe they meet the below criteria;

JOB SUMMARY: The GSE Technician works under the direction of the GSE Manager and/or other Management to ensure all aspects of GSE maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting are completed according to specific company policies & procedures. Inventory and Asset management are key focuses of this position, working with our HIPPO asset management system. Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and team work are key components to be successful in this position. The ideal candidate must possess verbal & written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. He/She must have a technical and mechanical skillset and be willing and able to troubleshoot GSE issues and perform preventative and non-invasive GSE maintenance. He/She must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Equipment cleaning, housekeeping, snow removal from GSE as required.
  • Shop upkeep including cleaning, parts storage, inventory and organization.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on GSE per the GSE Manager and preventative maintenance program (oil/filter changes, etc.)
  • Complete troubleshooting on GSE with flagged issues by responding to Equipment Deficiency Reports (EDRs).
  • Track and provide reports on GSE performance and deficiencies.
  • Liaise with 3rd party support companies.
  • Attend all required training sessions and successfully complete training courses.
  • Touch up painting, cosmetic work and overall appearance standards to be met.
  • Data entry into Hippo (Asset Management Program) for GSE.
  • Actively participate in company safety programs.
  • Work as a team member in a safe, efficient, professional manner.
  • Follow safe disposal requirements for hazardous products.
  • Adhere to published uniform standards and requirements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and safe workplace procedures.
  • Travel (road) as required to other Maintair stations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have 1-2 years previous mechanical / small engine / diesel experience.
  • Must be able to apply and secure an Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Must have sound understanding of parts inventory and cataloguing.
  • Must have excellent team player competencies.
  • Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of Google, Office and Hippo Asset Management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment working varied and/or split shifts.
  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation and work varied shifts when needed for operational reasons.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
