Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience is preferred.
  • Completion of a Survey/Geomatics Certification program or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and operation of surveying instruments and equipment.
  • Contribute to topographic surveys and the staking of electrical facilities.
  • Help perform calculations related to surveying theory and powerline design.
  • Participate in selecting appropriate powerline structures.
  • Prepare field notes or drawings to document structures.
  • Collaborate with the survey crew for easement applications.
  • Help establish brush clearing extents and project control.
  • Take part in underground utility locates.
  • Aid in routine maintenance of survey equipment.

About The Role

In this role, you’ll be an essential part of our survey team, assisting with the surveying of established and proposed power facilities while upholding ATCO’s commitment to safety and operational excellence. You’ll work hands‑on in the field, supporting the setup and operation of surveying instruments, providing topographic surveys, and helping stake electrical facilities. Your attention to detail and willingness to learn will be key as you perform calculations, prepare field notes, and contribute to the design and alignment of powerline structures.

  • Contribute to topographic surveys and the staking of electrical facilities.
  • Help perform calculations related to surveying theory, powerline design, and civil construction.
  • Participate in selecting appropriate powerline structures based on prepared designs.
  • Prepare field notes or drawings to document structures and topography according to design standards.
  • Collaborate with the survey crew to specify alignment for crown and private easement applications or sketches.
  • Help establish brush clearing extents and project control.
  • Take part in underground utility locates.
  • Aid in routine maintenance of survey equipment.
What You Bring:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience is preferred.
  • Completion of a Survey/Geomatics Certification program, Certification in Survey/Civil Technology from a recognized technical or distance learning institution or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.
