Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Geological Technician is responsible for managing ore control for the Geology department by safely and efficiently collecting, compiling, and reporting on underground geological data, working according to set standards, processes, procedures, and plans. They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge and dedication to safety, production methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.

Operational / Technical Execution
  • Assist with the implementation and adherence to a grade control plan for the processing of ore body.
  • Assist with data collection, geological modelling, and resource estimations.
  • Map underground development and track ore movement.
  • Track and report on ore grades.
  • Log drill core as required.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments according to mine production plans.
  • Perform other non-core duties as requested by Senior Production Geologist
General Administration and Controls
  • Perform routine reporting and administrative duties as required.
  • Take part in staff meetings as required.
  • Maintain full responsibility for complying with all Health Safety and Environment (HSE) and regulatory aspects relating to activities carried out in line with the requirements of this position.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use skills, knowledge, and experience in the field to contribute towards continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills Requirement
  • Legal to work within Canada.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good safety knowledge.
  • The ability to recognize and respond to hazards.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to problem-solve under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of departments / roles within all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic environment.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing physical labour such as lifting.
  • Proficiency in MSOffice Suite.
  • Working knowledge in computer systems related to this role would be considered an asset (AutoCAD, Amine, Datamine, Leapfrog, and Deswik)
  • 3 years of mining or mine related work experience would be an asset.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Geology / Geoscience / Earth science or related degree / diploma is required.
  • Underground Common Core accreditation is considered an asset.
  • Past underground experience will be heavily valued.
