About the position :

Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and in conjunction with the program team, the Youth Worker is responsible for supervising and counselling youth and families on an individual and group basis. Generally, the Youth Worker is responsible for overall case management and case co-ordination activities of their youth, within the parameters of the program. The Youth Worker may also be responsible for delivering basic care, competency development, recreational and counselling services to all or a portion of the youth in the program.

Position details

McMan is looking for Full-Time Youth Workers for our new Personalized Community Care Program in Lethbridge.

The shifts for these positions are 7am-7pm, 4 days on / 4 days off

Responsibilities
  • Establish helping relationships with youth and their support networks.
  • Support the team environment.
  • Create positive interactions to enhance adaptive functioning, social skills, recreational opportunities, self-regulation skills, life-skills, and connection to the community for youth with significant disabilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of intervention resources and methods.
  • Provide youth with guidance to assist them in addressing problem situations and / or behaviors.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education, Disability Studies, Child and Youth Care Diploma or a Degree in human services.
  • Six months' experience in family and youth work; two years' experience preferred.
  • Six months' experience in early childhood education and disability services; two years' experience preferred.
  • Strong counselling, program planning, organizational and communication skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z Intermediate First Aid Certificate.
  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months.
  • Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License (with three years' experience in Canada), Driver's Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
