Overview

With our strong track record and growth trajectory, we are seeking a Freight Director to build and lead our freight brokerage division, expanding revenue and delivering exceptional client service.

What You’ll Do

• Build and optimize MTE’s freight brokerage and transportation program, increasing contribution to overall revenue.
• Engage with clients and vendors to design custom, value-add freight solutions across FTL, LTL, parcel, drayage, rail, air, and ocean freight.
• Negotiate rates and establish strong partnerships with carriers locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Integrate seamlessly with both Business Development and Operations teams to maximize the impact of MTE for our clients.
• Mentor a small but growing team of Freight Coordinators / Planners in Edmonton and Calgary.
• Act as the senior escalation point for transportation and freight issues, ensuring client satisfaction.
• Implement systems, analytics, and process improvements to drive efficiency and profitability.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of freight forwarding / transportation management experience, including 5+ years at a senior leadership level.
• Proven success in building freight programs and driving revenue growth in a brokerage model.
• Exceptional understanding of the world of 3PL and warehousing and how transportation integrates.
• Strong negotiation, carrier management, and client service skills.
• Experience with (TMS) Transportation management system platforms, freight analytics, and margin optimization.
• Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset with a high sense of urgency.
