A health services organization in Alberta is seeking a Food Service I to perform routine food service duties, including preparation and delivery of meals to residents. The ideal candidate must be physically fit, capable of heavy lifting, and possess basic computer and customer service skills. This position offers competitive pay and is casual/relief based.
Under the general supervision of the Food Services Supervisor, this position performs routine food service duties such as preparation, portioning, assembly, delivery, distribution, disassembly, cleaning, operating industrial food service equipment, inventory stocking, cash transactions and customer service in all functional areas of the department. Food Service delivery is provided to Long Term Care residents. This position must be independent and able to make some decisions as a supervisor is not on duty at all times. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
Require basic computer skills. Food Safe Handling Certificate is required within three months. To work as part of a team, to be organized, perform duties independently and have the ability to work and learn quickly. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and customer service skills. Ability to read, write, speak and receive instruction in English. Must be physically fit and be able to perform heavy lifting up to 20 kg.
