Overview

C-P Flexible Packaging is a successful and fast-growing essential manufacturing company that uses an impressive array of digital pre-press and wide-web flexographic printing capabilities and extrusion and adhesive laminators to produce creative flexible packaging solutions for our customers. With a primary focus on serving the food industry, C-P specializes in roll stock, pouches, re-sealable packaging and shrink sleeves.

The Aurora plant is currently a 24/5 operation with 8 hours shifts, rotating every two weeks. Days (7a-3p), Afternoons (3p-11p), Midnights (11p-7a), offering both afternoon and midnight shift premiums. Selected candidates must be able to work shift work.

About The Role

We are seeking skilled, experienced and motivated Press Operators at our plant in AURORA, to fully set up and operate printing presses while supporting and training Press Helpers and Operator Trainees. This role is key to achieving high‑quality print results, meeting production goals, and maintaining smooth pressroom operations. If you have strong mechanical aptitude, an eye for colour accuracy, and enjoy mentoring others, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completely set up and operate printing presses, ensuring printed samples match approved standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for quality, production output, and oversight of the assigned Press Helper.
  • Assist helpers in loading raw material rolls and unloading finished rolls.
  • Perform ongoing training for Press Operator Trainees.
  • Work with Supervisors/Managers to reduce material waste and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee housekeeping duties and monitor helper activities.
  • Complete all required documentation, including:
    • Press checklists
    • Reading and interpreting dockets
    • Scanning UPCs
    • Anilox selection
    • Production roll tickets
    • Colour ladders
    • Breakdown of production sheets
    • Return‑to‑stock tickets
    • Plate cleaning forms
    • Creating and interpreting colour cards
    • Providing QA with required samples
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of colour theory, colour charts, laydown, and overprint.
  • Ability to analyze print samples for quality and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills to train helpers and operator trainees.
  • Experience operating printing presses.
Communication Requirements
  • Ability to give and receive direction with helpers, trainees, and supervisors.
  • Ability to read and understand job dockets.
  • Basic writing skills for documentation.
Initiative & Independence
  • Moderate freedom in selecting methods and making technical decisions within established guidelines.
  • Regular use of independent judgment within defined limits.
Physical Requirements

This role requires sustained physical activity, including:

  • Frequent lifting of 40 lbs on average.
  • Continuous standing; very limited sitting.
  • Frequent bending, slight twisting, and continuous back motion.
  • Occasional holding (10-15 lbs).
  • Regular carrying tasks.
  • Pushing and pulling 1,500-2,000 lb rolls using roll carts (approx. once per hour).
  • Frequent ladder and stair climbing (8-10 steps).
Work Environment
  • Concrete floors.
  • Exposure to inks and solvents (PPE required).
  • High noise levels (hearing protection required).
Mental Effort Requirements
  • High concentration on print quality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Patience and consistency.
  • Ability to keep pace with press machine operation.
