Job summary

A leading apparel importer based in Montreal is seeking a talented Fit and Spec Technician to join their team. The individual will collaborate closely with the Fit Leader to assist in developing patterns and ensuring timely feedback on various samples. Candidates should possess a minimum of 7 years' experience in the apparel industry, be proficient in Excel and Illustrator, and be bilingual in English and French. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to resolve fit issues efficiently.

Our client, a leading importer of womenswear, is looking for a talented Fit and Spec Technician to join their growing team!!!! This person will assist the fit leader during the fit sessions to help ensure a quick turnaround on submitted fit samples, preproduction samples, and TOP samples for their designated brands or commodities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Fit Leader in developing new pattern blocks.
  • Alongside the Fit Leader:
    • Assist design team to define standards, construction and sewing details for prototypes.
  • Aid the Fit Leader by measuring, fitting, commenting, and establishing corrections during fit sessions for:
    • Prototypes.
    • Fit samples.
    • Revised fit samples.
    • Preproduction samples.
    • TOP Samples (when needed)
    • Bulk production samples (when needed)
  • Assist in the approval and sign-off of all preproduction samples.
  • Contribute in the grading process for styles.
  • Work with the Fit Leader to:
    • Analyze measurements of bulk production reports and provide comments for final sign off.
    • Approve bulk production, with the QA director and Production Manager.
    • Analyze customer/sale associate fit complaints, make recommendations, and implement required adjustments.
Requirements
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in apparel industry.
  • Proficient in Excel & Illustrator.
  • Experience & strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, Denim, cut & sew and sweaters.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Bilingual: English & French.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be production oriented with ability to identify, analyze and resolve fit issues.
  • The ability to work easily within a team.
