Job summary

A leading seafood processor in Delta is seeking a full-time Production Worker to operate machinery for processing fish and seafood. Responsibilities include setup, monitoring, and packaging of products while ensuring safety and adherence to production guidelines. The role requires no formal education, requires basic English, and experience with forklifts is preferred. Job duties:
  • Set up and operate machines to clean, cut, or otherwise process fish or seafood products: Sharpening knives, changing parts, performing minor repairs to machinery/equipment.
  • Record production information: Reporting production and safety issues to Supervisors on shift.
  • Set up and operate machines to can, bag, box or otherwise package fish and seafood products: Setting up production lines for smooth operation and product flow.
  • Monitor different types of fish processing machinery/equipment.
  • Follow production guidelines and specifications for multiple species and products.
  • Stage fish in an organized fashion to facilitate smooth production on the plant floor.
  • Utilize manual and computer tracking systems to follow production data on the floor or in the warehouse.
  • Operate a forklift to transfer raw materials and/or finished products between the warehouse and working area.
  • Work on production lines performing manual duties with accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Requirements:
  • Education: No formal education is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience operating forklifts and food processing machines is an asset. On‑the‑job training will be provided.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads (lift and/or move up to 70 pounds), Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand‑eye co‑ordination, Standing for extended periods.
  • Personal Suitability: Team player, Reliability, effective interpersonal skills, organized, dependable.
  • Must take direction and abide by safety rules.
  • Work Site Environment: Noisy, Cold/refrigerated, Wet/damp.
  • Language: Basic level of English is required.

Wage: Hourly rate of $19.83 per hour or greater depending on individual’s skills and associated production piece rates. 40 hours per week.

Benefits: Disability insurance, dental insurance, Group RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan), extended medical insurance, uniforms and equipment are provided. Piece work based on production. Accommodation provided at a cost. Transportation costs covered if the worker needs to relocate.

Important information: Two shifts:
  • Day Shift (Monday – Friday, 6.30am – 3pm)
  • Afternoon Shift (Monday – Friday, 4pm – 12.30am)

Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required and depends on operational needs. This position involves working in a cold, damp and noisy environment.
