Finance Technician

Full-Time Permanent

Location-Rat Portage, Kenora

POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Technician at Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services manages the administration, data management, compliance, and integration of Sage Intacct and other financial applications. This role ensures the smooth operation of financial systems, supports the finance team with critical reports, and maintains data integrity and compliance with financial regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Community College Diploma with 3-5 years of direct experience in Sage Intacct implementation and system administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Customary Care, member First Nation communities and social structures, Anishinaabe family systems, as well as local customs and traditions.
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and detail-oriented skills, along with accountability, dependability, planning, organizational abilities, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data entry, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience working with auditors performed by external audit firms.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • General understanding of computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to take direction and work within the agency philosophy, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with staff, management, and other community agencies and service providers.
  • Always committed to ensure highest level of confidentiality at al times; thorough understanding that all agency matters related to finance, service, clients, staff, and all other agency business must be kept confidential.
  • Must be aware of the cultural environment in which AAFS Family Services operates.
  • Ability to flex daily work hours.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's Licence, willingness to travel, and provide a clear Criminal Records Check and Driver's Abstract.
  • Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform system admin duties for Sage Intacct, RedMane, and other AAFS financial applications, configuring systems to meet agency requirements.
  • Create and maintain records for vendors, clients, and staff, while managing user access and permissions.
  • Proactively ensure data integrity through audits and queries, providing necessary training for Finance staff.
  • Support the finance department and internal users, preparing and maintaining documentation.
  • Generate reports to meet the Finance Department's needs and continuously develop accounting software skills.
  • Manage the P.O. system, process expenses, handle cash, reconcile bank deposits, and maintain financial records.
  • Provide emergency backup services, track expenses, sort mail, and assist with accounts payable documentation.
  • Deliver competent finance services adhering to agency policies, participate in team meetings, and contribute to special projects.
  • Establish purposeful relationships with community service providers and AAFS agencies, and ensuring confidentiality.
Working Conditions

The work will be performed at an AAFS office site, or a remote setting (as per successful candidate's decision). The position requires sitting for long periods, walking, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, and stretching. It involves using arms, hands, or fingers for typing, handling, carrying objects, and repetitive movements, with manual dexterity needed for desktop computer use and peripherals. The noise level in the AAFS office environment is usually quiet to moderate. The role may require travel to semi-remote Anishinaabe communities on rough and winding class “C” roadways and in various weather conditions, the ability to attend and conduct presentations, and occasional overtime.

Salary Range

$50,627 - $62,090
