Job description

Powerpay is looking for a marketer who excels at driving new‑business pipeline to support new business growth in the Canadian SMB payroll in a fast‑moving company at an enterprise company that also feels like a start‑up. In this role, you will strategically support our direct sales teams and partner ecosystem with programs that create, accelerate, and expand revenue opportunities specifically focused on B2C‑style SMB acquisition in Canada. You will support the planning, building, and execution of marketing programs that fuel demand, convert prospects, and strengthen our presence across the Canadian SMB market. As the connective tissue between Marketing, Sales, and Partnerships, you will ensure programs land effectively and continuously evolve based on real‑time sales insights and performance data.

What You’ll Do
  • Marketing program ownership
    • Plan, develop, execute, and optimize strategic and tactical marketing programs that generate new leads for Powerpay’s prospect sales teams.
    • Communicate program details, deliverables, and results clearly to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Sales alignment
    • Partner closely with Sales leadership to deeply understand regional priorities, targets, and barriers to conversion.
    • Integrate learnings into broader marketing initiatives.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration
    • Serve as a positive feedback loop representing the voice of Sales within Marketing and the voice of Marketing back to Sales.
    • Collaborate with other marketing stakeholder groups to improve prospecting motions, funnel conversion, and segment‑specific outcomes.
    • Contribute to quarterly reviews for leadership and deliver insights to improve marketing ROI and program effectiveness.
  • Performance and budget management
    • Monitor weekly performance metrics and recommend tactics to sustain a healthy pipeline of qualified SMB opportunities.
    • Own budget, procurement, and financial accuracy for programs under your management.
    • Continuously refine programs using performance data, intent signals, Salesforce insights, and market feedback.
  • Additional requirements
    • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
    • Integrated campaigns and tradeshows (webinars, advertising, outbound messaging support, content).
What You Bring
  • Core experience
    • Proven track record partnering with direct sales teams and a strong understanding of the B2B sales process, ideally with exposure to fast moving, start‑up environments.
    • Experience executing multi‑channel marketing campaigns end‑to‑end, including planning, execution, measurement, and optimization.
    • Strong analytical abilities, with hands‑on experience using Salesforce, PowerBI, intent data, and other performance tools.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Bonus points
    • Demonstrated storytelling ability to influence how prospects think about their payroll challenges.
    • Experience marketing in the Canadian payroll, HCM, HR tech, or SaaS landscape.
    • Strong understanding of buyer and user personas including industry, company size, team dynamics, and individual decision‑makers.
    • Hands‑on experience executing marketing strategies and activation tactics.
    • Versatility across digital, content, event, and partner marketing.
