Job Description

The Facilities Process Engineer is responsible for developing, configuring, and optimizing industrial processes from inception through to start-up and certification at our Central Facilities. They will develop best practices to improve production rates, ensuring quality service to employees, customers, and suppliers, all in alignment with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design, operate, and implement new and existing plant equipment processes.
  • Enhance industrial processes to maintain efficiency, reduce costs, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability.
  • Develop, configure, and optimize processes from inception to start-up and certification.
  • Design, test, upgrade systems, perform risk assessments, and ensure safety and compliance.
  • Develop best practices and innovative solutions to improve production and quality.
  • Assess and promote process improvements, analyze data, conduct risk assessments, and monitor processes for performance enhancement.
  • Update maintenance records using CMMS (iMaint).
  • Liaise with service providers, technicians, and equipment manufacturers for support.
  • Implement food safety and quality control measures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance.
  • Research and recommend equipment for process improvements.
  • Install and commission new equipment; develop preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams for product viability and process efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and lead contractors as needed.
  • Maintain records of jobs, equipment conditions, and electrical/instrumentation diagrams.
  • Participate in Health & Safety, Environmental, and Management systems; perform emergency responses.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 2-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in process engineering.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of process standards.
  • Experience with process engineering software, CAD, or AutoCad.
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Excellent computer skills; CMMS experience is an asset.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Analytical, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High standards of cleanliness and order.
  • Ability to interpret and prepare technical documents and drawings.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and handle maintenance tools.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Flexible with hours and travel as needed.

Work & Sensory Environment:

  • Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment.
  • Exposure to environmental elements such as dirt, dust, extreme temperatures, and weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy objects.
