A non-profit organization is seeking an Executive Director to provide leadership and management for strategic direction and operational deliverables. The role involves advocating for the BC library sector and developing programs for trustee support. This contract position offers $56 per hour for up to 60 hours per month, with a preference for candidates located in British Columbia.

Organizational Profile
Founded in 1977, BCLTA is a non-profit society and registered charity providing membership-driven services to the boards and trustees of BC’s public libraries. BCLTA is committed to supporting its members through training and development, professional training and resources, and sector advocacy and representation. BCLTA executes its purpose through representing member trustees, amplifying the voices of member trustees and bringing public library board needs to provincial, strategic, and partner initiatives.
BCLTA ensures that the governance of public libraries (all types from across the province) is integral to all discussions for advancing the development of public libraries across the province. BCLTA supports effective public library governance by expanding the reach of member trustee orientation and board development resources; by convening provincial discussions and meetings; and by connecting trustees with trustees for peer networking. BCLTA is the recognized representative of public library trustees to the provincial government, to other provincial organizations, and to other library associations across the country; BCLTA is committed to knowing the trustees and boards we represent.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides leadership and management to ensure the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic direction, operational deliverables, programs and services. The Executive Director plays an active role supporting the BC library sector, through advocacy, engagement, and leadership. This position is integral to the development and delivery of trustee programs and services that align with organizational mandate and evolving sector and trustee needs.
This is a contract position of $56 per hour, to a maximum of 60 hours per month. Additional hours will be pre-approved by the Board. This is a hybrid position with strong preference for the Executive Director located in British Columbia. Contact Details
