Overview

Are you a leader who believes collaboration can break barriers and strengthen communities? The Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative (BCAPI) is looking for an Executive Director to guide our mission to end generational poverty in Saint John through a collective impact model.

By connecting business leaders with community leaders, BCAPI works with a diverse network of partners, businesses, government, educational institutions, philanthropic foundations, nonprofit and neighbourhood organizations to lead change in our community. BCAPI acts as a catalyst for lasting impact on children, families and communities.

About the Role

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of BCAPI, working closely with the board and external stakeholders to close the education and employment gap for vulnerable children, support families and strengthen the capacity of our city and province to prepare for the future, today.

This is a hands-on leadership role where business and community come together to create transformational change. The Executive Director provides strategic direction and advocacy by connecting businesses with community partners to ensure long-term sustainability and employment opportunities in the community.

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, community development or a related field
  • A strong understanding of poverty; its root causes, reduction strategies and systemic change approaches
  • Experience working with community partners and volunteer networks to create collective impact
  • Skills in identifying areas of impact, advocating for change, and building relationships
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with confidence in building partnerships and engaging diverse audiences
  • A strategic mindset with a hands-on ability to execute plans
  • A deep commitment to equity, inclusion and the belief that social impact creates a stronger future for all
  • Proficiency with computer-based applications to manage day-to-day operations
Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Provide visionary leadership to advance BCAPI's mission. Design, implement and advocate for initiatives that support children, youth, and families from cradle to career. Serve as a passionate voice for BCAPI in the community and beyond.
  • Build and strengthen meaningful relationships with community organizations, businesses, government agencies and other stakeholders. Act as a connector between the business community and not-for-profit organizations to foster collaboration.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships and donations. Cultivate strong partnerships with donors, foundations and corporate allies who share BCAPI's vision.
  • Sponsor and support projects that align with BCAPI's goals.
  • Provide guidance on program development, implementation and evaluation to deliver change.
  • Partner closely with a Leadership Roundtable to shape and deliver BCAPI's strategic plan. Lead financial operations including budgeting and reporting.
