BWXT Canada Ltd. (BWXT Canada) has over 60 years of expertise and experience in the design, manufacturing, commissioning and service of nuclear power generation equipment. This includes steam generators, nuclear fuel and fuel components, critical plant components, parts and related plant services.
We are currently seeking an Engineering Analyst to join our team in Cambridge, ON.
The Engineering Analyst is responsible for performing Structural qualification of nuclear components including steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels and piping assemblies and/or performing thermal-hydraulic analysis of heat exchanger equipment including steam generators and shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform varied engineering assignments as part of an engineering project.
- Typically follow standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
- Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations in conjunction with senior engineer/supervisor
- Analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions which would include:
- Structural analysis
- Transient thermal analysis
- Heat-transfer analysis
- CFD analysis
- Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis
- Flow-induced vibration analysis
- Provide input and support to Project Engineering including:
- Input to set the design
- Preparation of calculations and reports to qualify the final design
- Evaluating non-conformances as required
- Responsible to demonstrate acceptance to the criteria of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the Customer's specification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
- Typically, 5+ years’ experience and knowledge of:
- Finite element analysis.
- Experience using general purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
- Knowledge of nuclear plant functions and ASME BPV Code would be an asset.
- Knowledge of CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes would be an asset.
- Proven problem solving and organizational skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $71,000 and $106,000 per year.
