Qualifications

Job Responsibilities

The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) supports safe and efficient aggregate operations by managing production schedules, inventory, and budgets, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, responsibilities include coordinating mining and rehabilitation plans, assisting with special projects, and representing the site during government visits. The ideal candidate has an engineering background, working knowledge of AutoCAD, and is comfortable working outdoors.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures, including coordinating training and supporting government inspections.
  • Develop and manage production, maintenance, and mining schedules, communicating progress to management and staff.
  • Manage third-party contractors, including assigning tasks, coordinating schedules and safety protocols, tracking hours, and overseeing invoicing and compliance.
  • Monitor operating costs, forecast budgets, and report financial performance to align with company targets.
  • Coordinate production and inventory to meet sales goals and customer demand.
  • Support site rehabilitation efforts and assist the property department as needed.
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives with site leadership.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, manage time, and resolve challenges proactively.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mining, or Mechanical preferred).
  • 1–2 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with SAP and MS Project is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
