Doig River First Nation (DRFN) is a Beaver (Dane-zaa) community located in Northeastern British Columbia, dedicated to preserving its cultural heritage, protecting its lands, and fostering sustainable economic development. Guided by traditional values and a deep connection to the land, DRFN blends Indigenous knowledge with modern practices to ensure environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and sustainable resource management.
DRFN actively participates in regional economic opportunities, particularly in the energy and resource sectors, while advocating for its treaty rights and community interests. Reporting to the Lands and Resources Manager, Band Manager and with direction from Chief and Council, the Energy Resources Program Manager represents Doig River First Nation (DRFN) and advocates its interests through program implementation.
The Manager oversees all aspects of the energy resources program at DRFN and works with Council, program staff, and Lands department personnel to ensure DRFN territory is protected, treaty rights are implemented, and land stewardship is consistent with DRFN’s cultural and environmental values. In collaboration with the Economic Development Manager, this individual also seeks opportunities to advance business development and employment for DRFN members and its affiliates within the energy sector.
The Manager works to build reciprocal relations with industry proponents, regulators, and interest groups, including representing DRFN at working groups and forums, and is responsible for ensuring meaningful engagement and consultation with DRFN members on proposed energy-related activities.
