Reporting directly to the Director of Employee Communications,the Employee CommunicationsTeam Leadsupportsateam of communicationsprofessionalswhomanage relationships with our FST(Functional Services Team)partners. This includesworking with executive and businessleadershiptodevelop and implement internal communications strategiesthatsupportourFSTsandStantec’soverallobjectivesin alignment withourstrategic plan.This rolefocuses on reachingthe hearts and minds of our employees with communication experiences that shift behaviours to support and drive long-term business strategy, whileestablishingand nurturing relationships with our partners.

You’llwork with the broader Employee Communications team to ensurethe development ofbest practices, standards, and processesfor effective internal communications that boost performance, enable effectiveness, and help enrich Stantec’s culture.You will also be responsible fordefiningsuccess and associated measuresfor evaluationsofourcommunicationsplans.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, dynamic, and charismatic leader with at least 10years of experience in large, global organizationswith a multi-faceted stakeholder environment. Theypossessdeepexpertisein communication and marketing strategy, operations, and tactics. As an outstanding communicator, the candidate builds strong, positive relationships across all levels of the institution and operateswith confidence and composure, even under pressure. This individual is decisive yet collaborative, fostering an open and inclusive approach to achieving goals in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. In addition, the role leads a team of eight professionals, providing mentorship and development opportunities to ensure high performance and engagement.

Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Alignment

  • Understand Stantec’s operating model and strategic plan to guide decisions and shape communications strategies.
  • Develop andmaintainthe overarching FST communications strategy in alignment with organizational and employee communication goals.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with executive leadership and senior leaders, adapting communication approaches to suit different leadership styles and needs.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Employee Communications team by influencing and improving its strategic direction.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the communications team (editorial, digital, global) team to ensure content istimely, purposeful, and brand-aligned.
  • Ensure consistent use of Stantec’s brand and voice across all communications platforms.

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Lead individual projects and workstreams within large strategic communications initiatives, including audience analysis, message development, channel strategy, and performance evaluation.
  • Plan and manage diverse and conflicting workload pressures, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed within time and budget constraints.
  • Serve as a hands‑on, go‑to resource for senior communications counsel to the Employee Communications FST team and partners.

Team Development and Support

  • Lead, coach, mentor a high‑performing communications team, including performance and succession planning.
  • Inspire individuals to deliver their best work.
  • Foster a culture of trust, empowerment, and proactive problem‑solving.
  • Champion a collaborative team environment that values diverse perspectives.
  • Set clear expectations and model accountability to drive team success.
Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of employee communications best practices.
  • Strong collaboration, influencing and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
  • Skilled in framing key issues and messages by analyzing complex, sometimes incomplete information.
  • Highly organized and detail‑orarnissed, with strong prioritisation and sonder capacity.
  • Data‑driven approach to informing communication strategies and tactics.
  • Effective collaborator with creative professionals across locations (writers, designers, videographers).
  • Partner‑focused mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Post‑secondary degree in communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Minimum10years of experience in content marketing, communications taraf. etc. but limited to conversation keep exactly as provided text.
  • Minimum3 years of experience in a leadership position.

About the Team

Pay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
