A municipal government in Metro Vancouver is seeking an Emergency Management Assistant Coordinator. Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM − 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This position works in the Emergency Planning organizational unit. The incumbent assists with the development, delivery and maintenance of integrated plans for emergency preparedness programs; conducts research and analyzes a variety of information pertaining to the program; assists the Emergency Management Coordinator with managing operations, implementing work plans, emergency management plans and protocols; coordinates the City’s emergency management volunteer program; conducts meetings and training sessions; plans and participates in emergency exercises as required; establishes and maintains effective relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
Qualifications include the completion of Grade 12 supplemented by an Emergency Management Certificate plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the philosophy, principles, objectives, policies, regulations, practices and procedures of the Emergency Management Program is required. Sound knowledge of methods and practices for volunteer management and training programs, and knowledge of the Provincial Emergency Program and related legislation is essential. A valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required. This is a temporary full‑time position until September 30, 2027.
