Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Utility Operations, the Engineering Co-op student would gain practical experience in the planning and design of overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities. This is an 4-month term from May through August 2026, with the possibility for an extension.

Responsibilities
  • Alignment planning and stakeholder consultation.
  • Site visits and field surveys.
  • Survey requisitions and specifications.
  • Overhead line design including pole strength analysis.
  • Preparation and submission of approval packages to municipalities, utility owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Drafting and facilities mapping systems.Material planning.
  • Budget and schedule management.
  • Coordination with construction resources.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must currently be registered and in good standing with a qualified engineering program at an accredited institution.
  • Applicants must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Applicants should demonstrate above-average written and verbal communication skills, a strong propensity for time management, and a humble and teachable attitude.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD would be an asset.
